In pictures: Belfast’s Christmas market
We’re approaching the start of December, the weather’s getting chilly and the scarf and gloves have been dug out of the cupboard. It can mean only one thing – Christmas market season is coming. I love a good Christmas market and am hoping to be sipping vin chaud at one in Paris later this month, but for now I’m revisiting last year’s trip to Belfast. The Continental Christmas Market there is held outside City Hall and is full of the usual mix of food, drink and gift stalls. There’s a real multinational feel with stallholders coming from over 30 different countries – so you can get a crepe, bratwurst, springbok burger or paella to go along with your gluwein, and even pick up a ‘raindeer’ to take home with you.
2013’s Belfast Christmas Continental Market is being held at City Hall between 16 November and 22 December. It’s open every day, from 10am– 8pm on Monday–Wednesday, 10am–10pm on Thursday–Sunday and 1pm–6pm on Sundays.
