In pictures: Perranporth beach in Cornwall at sunset

Perranporth beach in Cornwall, England

Cornwall might have been beautiful last week, but it wasn’t very kind to us on the weather front. After grey skies and drizzle for days, when the sun finally appeared late one afternoon we headed straight down to the beach with our cameras. Nearby Perranporth beach was full of people taking advantage of the sunshine for a quick evening walk or surf. The wide sandy beach turned golden in the afternoon light before the sun started to dip down behind Chapel Rock. And then it was gone – the sun disappeared just as quickly as it arrived and within a hour the sunset light had faded back into rain clouds.

    • It did make us appreciate it even more when it did show up – and was a good excuse to camp out and be lazy the rest of the time!

    • We didn’t get the best weather luck either – holidaying in the UK is always like playing weather roulette!

  9. I love the beach. I live on the east coast of the United States. Often when I look out at the ocean I wonder what western European beaches are like. You’ve shown me a little bit.

    • There are some great beaches on the east coast of the US too. Strange to look out to sea here and think that’s the next bit of land all the way out there!
